Sylvan Esso Built WITH LOVE at Haw River Ballroom

For three days in October 2020, Haw River Ballroom became the home of a much larger version of Sylvan Esso. Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn brought a ten-piece ensemble into the Saxapahaw room and rebuilt six songs from Free Love for the project that became WITH LOVE.

Recorded and filmed from October 2 through 4, the sessions reshaped songs including Ferris Wheel and Rooftop Dancing with a full band around them. The performance aired on December 1 as the final instalment of FROM THE SATELLITE, and the WITH LOVE EP followed the next day. Inside a former mill beside the Haw River, music written by a duo opened outward into something communal and much bigger.
