On December 28, 2024, Sudbury musician Emilio Portal played the Townehouse Tavern, the long-running Elgin Street room that has helped anchor the city’s music scene for decades. The night later surfaced in Portal’s catalogue as Live from the Townehouse: December 28 2024.
Portal works across experimental music, percussion, production and sound engineering, and the release gives the Townehouse a local story rather than another chapter built around a touring headliner. A Sudbury musician made music in a Sudbury room and left the night behind as something that could be heard again. For a venue whose importance has always depended on the people who use it, that feels exactly right.
