About CouchLot
Music Is Bigger Than the Stream.
Finding music has never been easier. Finding everything around it can be strangely difficult.
The artist lives in one app. The tickets are somewhere else. The venue has its own calendar. The record store is across town. The history of the room is buried in a search result. The shirt is at the merch table. The story about the show is probably on Reddit.
CouchLot exists because those things belong together.
We’re building a place for people who care about music beyond the moment they press play.
The Show Is Only Part of It
CouchLot helps people discover artists and live shows, learn about the venues behind them, find record stores and physical music, and dig deeper through Field Notes.
Because a concert is rarely just two hours in a room.
It’s figuring out where you’re going. The drive there. The record store you found before the show. The venue you had heard about for years. The song that hit differently that night. The walk back to the car. The album you played all the way home.
Those parts count too.
Some Things Are Worth Keeping
We still believe in records, CDs, ticket stubs, liner notes and shelves full of things that tell you where your taste has been.
Streaming made music easier to access. It did not make the physical parts of music culture less meaningful.
That is why record stores, collections, venues and the rituals around listening have a permanent place at CouchLot.
They leave evidence.
Products From the Culture, Not Around It
We make original merchandise too.
But CouchLot was never meant to become an endless wall of music T-shirts.
Our products come from the same places the rest of CouchLot does: record collecting, physical media, live venues, road trips, geography, concert culture and the strange little details music fans tend to remember.
The goal is to make things that belong in the culture, not merchandise with music added to it afterward.
Field Notes
Some things need more than a directory listing.
Field Notes is where we write about venues, physical media, collecting, live music, music history, road trips and the experiences that sit around the songs themselves.
Sometimes useful. Sometimes nostalgic. Sometimes just something we could not stop thinking about.
Canadian-Born. North American in Scope.
CouchLot started in Canada, but the music culture we care about does not stop at the border.
A club in Toronto, an amphitheatre in Colorado, a record store in Chicago and a long drive to a show somewhere in between can all be part of the same story.
That is the territory we are building around.
Give Back
Music culture exists because people make it possible.
Through CouchLot’s Give Back program, purchases help support the wider music community and the people behind the music.
It is a small way of making sure that as CouchLot grows around this culture, some of that value goes back into it.
Songs. Roads. Memories.
That is really what CouchLot has always been about.
The song you found.
The room where you heard it.
The road that got you there.
The record you kept.
The story you still tell.
Songs. Roads. Memories.
