On May 26, 2018, Silence became the centre of something larger than a night of music. Andrew Craig’s Crossing Project joined the Guelph Black Heritage Society for an event built around themes of exile, exodus and transformation.
The programme moved beyond the former garage itself, with a parade on Essex Street connecting the performance space to the neighbourhood around it. That made the room part of the event rather than simply its address. For a venue shaped around community as much as programming, the Crossing Project captured what Silence could do at its best: use music to bring people together inside the room, then carry the gathering out the door.
