Pearl Jam returned to Seattle for two Home Shows at Safeco Field on August 8 and 10, 2018. The stadium dates were the band’s first hometown shows in five years, but the project also set a goal outside the ballpark: mobilizing support for people experiencing homelessness.
The campaign surrounding the concerts ultimately distributed $10.8 million to nearly 100 organizations, according to the band’s official accounting. That figure belongs to the wider Home Shows effort, not simply the ticket proceeds from two nights.
At the park now called T-Mobile Park, the homecoming had two scales. Thousands gathered for a band playing its own city, while the associated campaign sent resources into organizations working across that city. The concerts gave the effort a date, a meeting place and a public focus.
