Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament carried their Seattle band history into Pearl Jam, joined by Eddie Vedder and Mike McCready for the songs that became Ten. Vs. and Vitalogy pushed the group toward harsher guitars and less predictable structures. Their official concert releases document changing set lists and extended performances, making the live catalogue a substantial part of the band's recorded work.
