From May 26 through 30, 2021, Black Pumas played five sold-out hometown shows at Stubb’s. The run had been postponed during the pandemic, while the band’s national audience kept growing away from Austin stages.
Across five consecutive nights, different supporting artists joined the bill. Contemporary reporting described the stand as a major return for full-capacity live music in the city and estimated roughly 11,000 attendees across the run.
For Stubb’s Bar-B-Q, the shows became a clear marker of live music’s return. For Black Pumas, they were the point when a much larger new audience could finally meet the band at home.
