On July 17, 2019, Joseph Anidjar brought guitarist instincts and an improviser’s patience into Burdock Music Hall with Matt McCormack on bass and Matt Dicker on drums. A Zoom recorder was running while the trio played the set continuously, moving between named pieces and three improvisations without breaking the evening into neat compartments.
The resulting Live at Burdock arrived the following month. Tracks such as The Space in Between and Other Things at Night sit inside the larger uninterrupted performance, preserving the flow of a small Toronto room rather than just a collection of individual songs. It is the kind of live record that makes more sense when heard as a night, not a playlist.
