Record Stores in Nashville

East Nashville releases, Donelson vinyl, west-side used media and a separate Franklin trip.

Nashville’s record stores are spread across more than one version of the city. Downtown puts Swaggie and the reopened Ernest Tubb address within a central visit. East Nashville has Grimey’s, Vinyl Tap and Elevator Vinyl, each with a different setting and schedule. South and west add Phonoluxe, The Great Escape and McKAY’s. Swaggie’s second branch makes Donelson a separate eastern stop. Luna is in Franklin, which belongs on the map as its own trip rather than another Nashville neighbourhood.

Start with the kind of music or format that brought you here. Grimey’s combines new and used records and CDs with release events. Dead End gives metal, punk and local bands a focused shop at Marathon Village. Third Man opens a window onto a label’s catalogue and recording operation. Phonoluxe, The Great Escape and McKAY’s make used media part of the itinerary, with CDs alongside the records. Country is in the picture, but it does not describe all the shelves.

The calendar can determine the route. Phonoluxe currently concentrates its retail week on Friday through Sunday. Grimey’s in-store performances have their own entry conditions. Vinyl Tap’s age policy changes in the evening, and Third Man tours need a separate booking. Check those details before choosing the order.

A downtown concert can pair with downtown shopping: the Ryman and Bridgestone Arena provide relevant anchors near the Broadway end. For the rest, leave a travel leg between the record bags and the show. Read the individual store pages for moves, host-business entrances and collection-buying policies. Dead End’s current Marathon Village space and Elevator’s shop inside Lykke Haus are useful details to save with the route.

Neighborhood routes

East Nashville and a separate Donelson stop

Grimey’s and Elevator Vinyl are both on East Trinity Lane, at different addresses; Elevator is inside Lykke Haus Vintage. Vinyl Tap is on Greenwood at Porter. Swaggie’s Donelson shop at 2720 Old Lebanon Pike adds a separate journey east, with its own schedule. Check the branch and Vinyl Tap’s evening age policy when setting the order.

Downtown, Pie Town and Marathon Village

Swaggie’s Union Street branch and Ernest Tubb on Broadway fit a downtown visit. Third Man on Seventh Avenue South and Dead End at Marathon Village extend the day in different directions. Use Dead End’s current Clinton Street address.

West Nashville, south or Franklin

The Great Escape on Charlotte Avenue and McKAY’s on Old Hickory Boulevard give a west-side day two substantial used-media stops, with travel between them. Check The Great Escape’s latest address because a move was announced for later in 2026. Phonoluxe on Nolensville Pike and Luna inside the Factory in Franklin belong on separate southern legs.
