Third Man’s Nashville storefront sits inside the label’s working world: records, offices, a novelties lounge and the Blue Room performance space. Opened in 2009, it is a chance to follow a label’s taste across releases rather than search a general used-record inventory. Rock and blues are obvious entry points, but the catalogue also makes room for less predictable recordings and formats. Tours go beyond the retail room into parts of the operation normally out of view. Book one separately if that is the reason for visiting; walking into the shop does not reserve a place.
What you will find
Third Man vinyl, books, apparel and label-related goods. The Blue Room has its own events and bar programme, which should be checked separately from retail hours.
Genre strengths: Rock, Blues, Experimental
Getting there
Use the current official address, 627 Seventh Avenue South. This is south of Broadway, away from the downtown Swaggie and Ernest Tubb stops; allow a separate leg between them.
Local tips
The official page currently marks the Voice-o-Graph recording booth out of order. Call for its current status if making your own record is central to the visit.
