On November 22, 2002, the Rolling Stones played the Wiltern in Los Angeles during their Licks World Tour. The theatre offered a smaller setting within a tour that also filled arenas and stadiums.
The set leaned into material including Stray Cat Blues, No Expectations and Can’t You Hear Me Knocking. Solomon Burke joined the band for Everybody Needs Somebody to Love, connecting the performance to one of the song’s original writers and voices.
The concert eventually reached a wider audience as Live at the Wiltern, released in 2024. That recording preserves the attraction of this particular stop: a major touring band using a theatre date to make space for less familiar selections and a guest appearance with a direct musical history.
