Before the 2015 Zip Code tour reached stadiums, The Rolling Stones opened it inside the Fonda Theatre on May 20. The centerpiece was the first complete live performance of Sticky Fingers.
“Sway,” “Sister Morphine,” “Moonlight Mile” and the rest of the 1971 album appeared together in sequence. The small-room setting let the band revisit a record built from blues, country and rock before returning to the scale of a stadium tour.
The show made The Fonda Theatre the setting for a clearly defined catalogue event, not simply a warm-up. The concert later became an official From the Vault film and album.
