San Francisco. Thanksgiving night. November 25, 1976. Winterland was an old ice rink that had spent years getting beaten up by rock shows. For one night, Bill Graham decided to dress it properly. Carpet went down. Chandeliers went up. Scenery borrowed from the San Francisco Opera's La Traviata dressed the stage.
