Why it matters

First Avenue is inseparable from Minneapolis music history. The black exterior covered in silver stars is recognizable on its own, but the real appeal is that it still operates like a working club rather than a museum piece.

Getting there

There is no official venue parking lot. Several downtown ramps and surface lots sit within a few blocks, and light rail and bus service make transit practical.

Bag policy

The venue prefers smaller bags. Larger bags, including backpacks and messenger bags, may need to be checked at coat check. All bags can be searched.

Local tips

Check the stars outside before you head in. Downtown parking is easier if you choose a ramp before arriving. Inside, sightlines change quickly in a packed room, so early arrival helps if you care where you stand.
