Capital One Arena concert venue in Washington, District of Columbia

Why it matters

Capital One Arena opened in 1997 and helped pull major sports and entertainment back into downtown Washington. Its location in Penn Quarter and Chinatown means a concert here feels woven into the city rather than isolated in a parking district, which is a big part of its appeal.

Getting there

Gallery Place puts you at the doors of Capital One Arena. Metro is the simplest arrival from most parts of Washington, and the Penn Quarter location means you can stay on foot once you are downtown.

Bag policy

Entry screening at Capital One Arena follows the rule posted for the event configuration. Review the official venue policy on show day, especially if you need a medical, parenting or accessibility exception.

Local tips

Gallery Place Metro is directly at the arena and is the obvious first choice. Penn Quarter has plenty of places to eat within a few blocks, so there is little reason to arrive by car unless you are coming from outside the transit network.
