9:30 Club

Washington, District of Columbia, United States

Why it matters

The 9:30 Club is a benchmark for how a club should work: intimate, well-run and deeply connected to the city’s music history. It has hosted generations of artists without losing the feel of a neighborhood room.

Getting there

Public transit is easy. The U Street/African-American Civil War Memorial/Cardozo Metro station is nearby, and rideshare is straightforward. Driving is possible but parking in the U Street area can be limited.

Bag policy

The venue asks guests to leave bags at home when possible. Bags that are brought in are searched, and larger bags may need to be checked depending on size.

Local tips

Arrive early if you want balcony rail or a specific floor position. U Street has plenty of food and bars nearby, so there is no reason to rush directly from dinner across town at the last minute.
