Antone’s Record Shop is still on Guadalupe, where Clifford Antone opened it in 1987. The blues connection runs through the shop’s catalogue, with Texas music, soul, R&B, jazz and New Orleans records providing other ways in. It is a record store with its own history and operation, distinct from Antone’s Nightclub downtown. That separation is useful: the shop and the club share roots, but they are not the same stop. Browse the staff selections or the Texas section if you want the purchase to follow the city’s music rather than a list you could fill anywhere.
What you will find
New and used vinyl and CDs, cassettes, books, magazines, posters and Antone’s merchandise. Blues and Texas releases have dedicated sections, alongside a wider catalogue.
Genre strengths: Blues, Soul, R&B, Jazz, Local
Buying and selling
The shop buys well-cared-for records. Read its current buying guidance or call about the collection before arriving; selling used CDs does not by itself establish a CD-buying policy.
2928 Guadalupe Street, just north of the University of Texas campus. Exploded Records is nearby on Guadalupe. Antone’s Nightclub and Big Henry’s are downtown at 305 East Fifth Street.
Local tips
Some online inventory ships from a warehouse. Call to confirm that a specific title is physically in the shop before travelling to inspect it or arrange pickup.
CouchLot researches store information using official sources, local reporting and collector communities. This is an independent guide to a third-party shop. Inventory and policies change. Check the shop's official source before making a special trip.
