Foo Fighters

Dave Grohl recorded most of the first Foo Fighters album himself before assembling a touring band. The Colour and the Shape turned the project into a fuller group sound, with Everlong moving between tightly wound verses and open guitar choruses. Later records such as Wasting Light kept the emphasis on melodic rock played at volume, with multiple guitars adding weight rather than constant solos.
