From December 12 through 16, 2017, Alvvays played five consecutive sold-out hometown shows at the Mod Club. The residency brought the Antisocialites era into a room much smaller than the stages the band was increasingly able to fill.
The venue already had connections to the group’s working life. Relationships made around the room helped bring drummer Sheridan Riley and touring crew members into the band’s orbit, so the five-night stand carried more history than a routine homecoming.
At The Mod Club, Alvvays chose repetition and intimacy over one larger victory lap. Each night returned a growing Toronto band to a venue that had helped shape the people around it.
