Xcel Energy Center

St. Paul, Minnesota, United States

Why it matters

Xcel Energy Center opened in 2000 as a hockey-first arena in a state that takes hockey seriously. The steep bowl and downtown Saint Paul location also make it a strong concert room, with a more compact feel than many arenas built around the same period.

Getting there

Get into downtown Saint Paul, then approach Xcel Energy Center from the West 7th side or by transit. The Green Line reaches central Saint Paul, with a walk to the arena from the station. Drivers have several downtown ramps, but the closest one is not always the fastest way out.

Bag policy

Before travelling to Xcel Energy Center, open its official A–Z, FAQ or guest guide and confirm the concert's bag dimensions. A small essentials-only setup is the safest choice when an event notice is more restrictive.

Local tips

West 7th Street is the natural pre-show strip, with bars and restaurants running southwest from the arena. Downtown parking ramps are plentiful, and the Green Line gets you into central Saint Paul, but allow time for the walk from the station.
