Why it matters

The Warehouse brought large-scale rock concerts to a Tchoupitoulas Street room in New Orleans. Its January 30, 1970 opening bill featured Fleetwood Mac, the Flock and the Grateful Dead. The venue later hosted touring artists across rock and reggae, and ZZ Top recorded the live portion of Fandango! here. The Ponderosa Stomp Foundation's music map gives its capacity as 3,500 and identifies Talking Heads' September 10, 1982 appearance as the final show. The building was demolished in April 1989.
