Know Before You Go
Why it matters
The Chicago Theatre opened in 1921 as a lavish French Baroque movie palace and the flagship of the Balaban & Katz theatre chain. Its grand auditorium, Arc de Triomphe-inspired façade and famous State Street marquee remain inseparable from the experience of seeing a show there.
Getting there
The theatre is on State Street in the Loop with multiple CTA rail lines, buses, garages and walkable downtown hotels nearby. Transit is usually the simplest option.
Bag policy
MSG venue policies can change by event. Use the current Chicago Theatre FAQ as the authority and bring only a small personal bag for the fastest entry.
Local tips
This is one of those rooms where the building is part of the show. Arrive early enough to see the marquee and interior rather than rushing straight to your seat.
