Why it matters
The Orbit Room was a small College Street venue founded in 1994 by Tim Notter and Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson. Its musical identity came from repeated local nights rather than occasional marquee bookings: Notter said it presented bands daily for 22 of its 25 years. The original room stopped operating in March 2020 and announced permanent closure that July. The name subsequently continued through Orbit Room-presented shows at the Redwood Theatre, so the closed College Street venue and the later event series must remain distinct.
