Why it matters
Le Spectrum was a downtown Montréal concert hall that operated from 1982 until August 5, 2007. Its equipped stage gave promoters a practical alternative to renting a theatre and supplying their own production systems. The room hosted Québec artists and international touring acts, with roughly 1,200-person configurations documented in the historical archive. Its legacy includes televised music as well as concert memories. This entry covers the closed Sainte-Catherine Street hall, whose building was later demolished.
