Why it matters
The Cave Supper Club combined an artificial-grotto interior with one of Vancouver's most prominent nightclub stages. The Coastal Jazz and Blues Society dates its Hornby Street history from 1937 to 1981. Stalactite-style decoration framed elaborate productions and visiting singers, supported by local house-band musicians. Its programming later expanded to rock acts including the Police and Tower of Power. The venue's story connects Vancouver's working jazz community with touring entertainment, rather than reducing the room to a list of celebrity appearances.
