Why it matters
Brooklyn Paramount restored a 1928 movie palace as a 2,700-capacity concert hall, giving downtown Brooklyn a major touring room with ornate architecture, a general-admission floor and modern production.
Getting there
Use DeKalb Avenue for the B, D, N, Q or R trains, or Nevins Street for the 2, 3, 4 and 5. The venue is beside Long Island University's Brooklyn campus, and curb space on Flatbush Avenue Extension is poor for post-show pickup.
Bag policy
Non-clear bags larger than 6 × 9 inches must be checked; clear bags up to 12 × 6 × 12 inches are allowed. All bags are searched, and bags over 12 × 6 × 12 inches are prohibited.
Local tips
The restored decorative interior is part of the experience, but the general-admission floor can be dense. Balcony seats trade floor energy for a complete stage view and easier access to a fixed place.
