Why it matters

Alpine Valley is a giant Midwestern shed with a history of destination shows and big summer weekends. The steep lawn, rural setting and long-running jam and rock associations give it a character that newer amphitheatres rarely have.

Getting there

Driving is the practical choice. Lots typically open several hours before the show, and drop-off and pick-up use designated areas. Expect traffic both entering and leaving and allow more time than the mileage suggests.

Bag policy

Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC tote bags up to 12 x 6 x 12 in are permitted, plus small non-clear clutches up to 6 x 9 in. Other bag types are not allowed.

Local tips

Wear shoes with grip if you are on the lawn. Weather can change quickly and the slope is part of the experience. Do not expect a quick post-show exit, so plan the night around the traffic instead of fighting it.
