Why it is worth visiting

Amoeba Hollywood is useful when the collection spans more than one format or genre. New, used and collectible CDs and vinyl share the shop with DVDs, Blu-rays, books, posters and other music-related material. Its scale makes a format-first plan sensible: decide whether the priority is CDs, records or film before the browse expands in every direction. The current shop opened on Hollywood Boulevard in April 2021, replacing the old Sunset location. That move also made the Hollywood/Vine station a particularly direct approach. Current in-store events offer another reason to visit, but a performance is not required to justify the trip. Pair it with Nivessa or The Record Parlour nearby when there is time to compare different used inventories within Hollywood.

Buying and selling

Amoeba buys records, CDs and many other physical-media formats for cash or store credit. Bring current government-issued identification. Call first for more than 500 CDs or 1,000 LPs and review the current buying policy.
