Flipside is for a shopping list that has escaped the record sleeve. Alongside new and used vinyl, cassettes and CDs, the Berkley shop handles video, games, stereo equipment and other collectables. That mixed stock is the attraction for someone who still uses several kinds of player at home. The current Coolidge Highway location also matters: this is not the former Clawson shop found in older guides. Give the music sections a deliberate pass before the rest of the merchandise takes over the afternoon. There are more ways than one to come home with something to play.
What you will find
New and used records, cassettes and CDs; used DVDs, Blu-rays, games and electronics; stereo equipment and music merchandise. Stock in the non-music departments changes independently of the record bins.
Flipside buys records, CDs, films and other collectables according to title and condition. Its published buying schedule excludes Sundays. Call before bringing electronics or a large mixed collection.
3099 Coolidge Highway in Berkley. Use this address instead of the former Clawson location. Royal Oak’s UHF is another metro stop, not the next storefront on the same block.
Local tips
If the trip is about a cassette deck or another player as well as tapes, ask about the exact model and testing history. A shelf of cassettes does not establish what equipment is available.
