Why it is worth visiting

Twist & Shout makes sense when a shopping list crosses formats. CDs and home video are visible parts of the business alongside new LPs and used vinyl rarities, rather than an afterthought beside the record bins. The shop opened in 1989 and moved into the Lowenstein complex on Colfax in 2006. Longtime employee Patrick Brown took over in 2022, continuing a business whose event calendar includes advance listening parties and other reasons to gather around a release.

What you will find

New and used vinyl and CDs, film on DVD and Blu-ray, books and music-related objects. The used vinyl rarities listings offer a different starting point from the new-release catalogue.

Genre strengths: Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, R&B, Soul, Electronic, Country, Folk, Blues, Jazz, International, Metal, Punk, Reggae, Indie, Soundtracks

Getting there

2508 East Colfax Avenue in the Lowenstein complex. RTD's record-store route guide identifies the 15 at Elizabeth and the 15L at Josephine as useful Colfax stops.

Local tips

Use the Colfax bus corridor to combine this stop with the Ogden or Fillmore on a concert day. Keep the used CD and home-video departments in the plan if you collect more than LPs.
