The Edge's repeating guitar figures leave space around Bono's voice in U2's early records, from Boy to the more forceful War. Working with Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois on The Unforgettable Fire and The Joshua Tree opened that sound into broader textures. Achtung Baby and the Zoo TV tour brought distortion, electronic rhythms and multimedia staging into the Dublin band's work.
