Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites began writing together in New Jersey before relocating to Denver and developing the Lumineers. Ho Hey and Stubborn Love introduced the acoustic arrangements of their first album. Cleopatra and III put longer character stories around that sound, using piano, strings and changes in dynamics alongside the group choruses that carry their live shows.
