Legacy / Inactive

Roy Acuff joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1938, singing and playing fiddle with the Smoky Mountain Boys. Wabash Cannonball and The Great Speckled Bird became closely associated with his direct, high-register delivery. Beyond performing, he co-founded Acuff-Rose Music with Fred Rose in 1942, helping establish Nashville's songwriting and publishing business alongside its radio and recording industries.
