Robert Randolph

  • United States
  • Funk & Soul

Robert Randolph brought the African American Sacred Steel tradition of pedal steel guitar from the House of God Church into blues, rock, funk and soul. Raised in Orange, New Jersey, he first developed his ecstatic, vocal-like steel style in church, then reached a broader audience through The Word and Robert Randolph & The Family Band before returning to his gospel roots on the Grammy-winning 2025 solo album Preacher Kids.
