Rick Springfield first found success in Australia with the band Zoot before building an American solo career around sharp, guitar-led pop rock. 1981's Working Class Dog and its Grammy-winning single Jessie's Girl made him a major radio artist, while his parallel acting career gave him a pop-cultural footprint well beyond the records.
