Legacy / Inactive

Professor Longhair's piano combines a rolling bass figure with syncopated rhythms drawn from blues and Caribbean music. Born Henry Roeland Byrd, the New Orleans singer recorded songs including Tipitina and Mardi Gras in New Orleans that became part of the city's musical repertoire. The club Tipitina's took its name from his song and gave him a regular stage during his later career.
