Hootie & the Blowfish formed at the University of South Carolina, with Darius Rucker's baritone set against acoustic strumming and Mark Bryan's electric guitar. Their 1994 debut Cracked Rear View included Hold My Hand, Let Her Cry and Only Wanna Be with You. Later records such as Musical Chairs and Imperfect Circle continued the group's mix of melodic rock, folk and soul.
