George Strait

George Strait brought honky-tonk, Western swing and Texas country back to the centre of mainstream Nashville in the 1980s, favoring an understated vocal style over pop crossover theatrics. A remarkably consistent run of singles and tours made him one of country music's defining modern artists while keeping the sound closely tied to traditional band playing.
