Genesis

Genesis formed in 1967 among students at Charterhouse School and spent the early 1970s stretching rock into elaborate, theatrical progressive music with Peter Gabriel out front. After Gabriel left, Phil Collins became lead singer and the band gradually moved toward leaner pop-rock without losing Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford's compositional identity, producing a rare second commercial peak in the 1980s.
