Legacy / Inactive

Elvis Presley's early Sun recordings joined his voice to Scotty Moore's guitar and Bill Black's bass, drawing country and rhythm and blues into a spare rockabilly sound. RCA hits and film work followed, but gospel remained central to his singing. The 1968 television special and From Elvis in Memphis returned attention to his live presence and his ability to reshape other writers' songs.
