Dropkick Murphys formed in Quincy, Massachusetts, bringing punk guitars together with Irish folk instruments and group vocals. Sing Loud, Sing Proud! established much of that approach; The Warrior's Code includes I'm Shipping Up to Boston, adapted from Woody Guthrie lyrics. The band's annual St. Patrick's Day shows made Boston central to its live identity, while later acoustic recordings returned to Guthrie's writing.
