Diana Ross' lead vocals helped define the Supremes' Motown records before she began releasing solo albums in 1970. Ain't No Mountain High Enough placed her voice inside a sweeping arrangement; Love Hangover and the Chic-produced diana moved toward disco and funk. Her portrayal of Billie Holiday in Lady Sings the Blues also brought jazz material into her recording and film work.
