Depeche Mode

Depeche Mode began with the bright synthesizers of Speak & Spell, then developed a darker sound around Martin Gore's writing and Dave Gahan's singing. Black Celebration and Music for the Masses expanded their use of samples and percussion. Violator joins those electronic arrangements to songs such as Enjoy the Silence and Personal Jesus, with guitar taking a more prominent role on the latter.
