Legacy / Inactive

Clifton Chenier took the Black Creole dance music he heard around rural southwest Louisiana and pushed it toward a modern zydeco sound by bringing accordion together with blues and R&B. Singing in both French and English and fronting the Red Hot Louisiana Band, he carried the style from regional dance halls to international stages and became known as the King of Zydeco.
