Before Traveller, Chris Stapleton sang with the bluegrass group the SteelDrivers and wrote songs recorded by other country performers. His solo work brings that experience into slower, spacious arrangements where a guitar phrase or held vocal note can carry a song. From A Room and Starting Over continue the blend of country, blues and soul, with Morgane Stapleton's harmonies a recurring part of the sound.
