Barry Manilow

Barry Manilow worked as an arranger and musical director for Bette Midler before his own recordings reached a broad pop audience. Mandy and Weekend in New England place his voice inside large ballad arrangements, while Copacabana turns a character story into dance-floor theatre. His background at the piano and in arranging remains audible in the way the songs build toward their choruses.
