BADBADNOTGOOD Opened Montreal’s Fairmount Era

On March 1, 2015, BADBADNOTGOOD played the first public concert under the Théâtre Fairmount name. The Toronto trio’s appearance closed Red Bull Music Academy’s Montreal Bass Camp and introduced audiences to the room’s new identity.

This was a reopening, not the birth of an entirely new music venue. The building had most recently operated as Cabaret du Mile-End, which closed in November 2014. New operator Neon kept the room’s layout while changing its sound, lighting and decor.

That context gives the show its place in Montreal music history. BADBADNOTGOOD supplied the first performance of the Fairmount chapter in a space that already had a musical past. The name changed, the doors reopened, and live music returned to the corner of Parc and Fairmount.
